You just love taking a plunge into the water, do you not? Well you have dabbled in diving and have received a number of certifications too. Yet, you are not considered a professional in diving. Well that is because you do not have a professional divemaster’s course. Yes, a divemaster course is your passport to becoming a professional in the line. It is your stepping stone to raise yourself up in the career of diving. And obviously the divers’ master course will also allow you to transmit your passion for diving on to those who are mere beginners in the line.
What exactly is the work of a divemaster? A divemaster has typically many roles to play. Your first job would be to be the second hand man of the instructor and assist him out during divers’ programs. You get to manage, organize and conduct all recreational divers’ courses, regardless of whether they are land based or boat. You are also considered qualified enough to supervise these activities and also other training and non training related activities. Ok, so you are all about the water. But still, who really wants to be the organizer of trips? You do not just stay as an organizer. You are all about diving and teaching people how to dive! As a divemaster you get to do that as well. All those Skin Divers and Snorkelers, who want to learn to dive, will be taught by you, the divemaster.
And for all those tourists who are looking for a local dive experience, a divemaster conducts, if you are a divemaster, you get to conduct these reviews as well. Does all this just not sound great? Well friends hold your (sea) horses, because this is just not it. Getting a qualified divemaster course allows you to gather the experience that you require to become an instructor! As a dive master you go on to direct dives, teach new beginners how to go about diving and help people discover that exhilaration of your world.
So what do you really need to do to earn this qualification? To be allowed a divemaster’s certificate you need to definitely have crossed the age bar of 18. You must have completed an advanced course on Open Water diving. This makes you fit for directing scuba dives and helps you pick up and hone whatever dive moves you need to pick up! Of course being a divemaster means you are not just responsible for yourself but also for some other beginners’ life. Therefore you need to get yourself certified for a divers’ rescuer course. This course allows you to spot any kind of emergency situation under water and also will help you to deal with these situations. You also must have completed 60 dives for the certification of the divemaster’s course. However when you enroll yourself for the course you need not have completed 60 dives. 20 dives are enough for that purpose.
Now no one wants to be just the second best in their line. You obviously are not an exception. You would love to excel. So what can you do to be the best divemaster around? The best way is to show others a proof of your passion for water. How could you do that? Get yourself enrolled at other specialized diving course recognized by the PADI or Association of Professional Divers Instructors. There are loads of specialized divers’ courses offered out there. You could get a certificate for boat diver or night diver. There are also courses for dry suit diving, cavern diving, altitude diving and the like. It is advisable to do least around 5 other such courses recognized. Of course being an equipment specialist helps as well.
Once you attain the certification of a being a divemaster, you can get yourself enrolled at any dive centre as one. Once you start gathering experience as a dive master you could set your sights higher up to become an instructor. This is the highest level in the world of professional diving that you can attain.
